Which MBTI type relates to each season? (Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring)

There are many factors that we must consider when determining which season is best. We may enjoy one season because it is our birthday, or we may prefer a particular temperature and weather. However, one often overlooked aspect is personality.

I believe that certain MBTI types are best suited for different types. Let’s investigate:

Summer

Firstly, Summer time strongly corresponds with the ESTP type. Se types are considered the fun, in the moment types, and most people think of the beach, swimming, the park or other outdoor activities to enjoy the sunny temperature. Summer is indeed one of the best times to experience the outdoors and to embrace new opportunities. For example, on a recent visit to America during mid winter, many opportunities were closed off- they were only available in summer. Summer is perfect for the fun loving Se types, supported by the competitive and fun nature that Ti’s often enjoy. This leaves me with the conclusion of the ESTP being best suited for summer.

Autumn

Secondly, Autumn correlates with the ISTJ type. As Si types enjoy practicality and simplicity, Autumn is the perfect season as the weather remains consistently safe, not too hot or cold, as well as being very repetitive without anything extreme out of the order or out of reach due to the weather. Often described as the safe (and sometimes boring!) types, ISXJ’s would feel right at home in Autumn! Additionally, T types see the logical benefits to Autumn, whereas the more emotional F types may become more easily depressed by the Autumn temperature. Therefore, ISTJ types are best suited for Autumn.

Winter

Thirdly, winter is best suited for INFP’s. During the cold weather, many people are naturally more inclined to stay indoors, and hence this makes the perfect weather for introverts. In particular, introverted intuitive types most probably enjoy this time to invest time in their creative projects, and to give them some time from the extroverted sensing dominated society. Additionally, many Fi types would embrace the uncertainty and excitement of the season. Therefore, INFP’s are best suited for Winter.

Spring

Finally, spring is best suited for ESFJ’s. Much like autumn, spring is another in between season in temperature- it is consistent, and not on either extreme scale of temperature (not too hot or too cold like summer and winter respectively.) Therefore, the Si type would enjoy this weather. However, the extroverted, Fe types, who also go for consistency, would not enjoy the ugly, lifeless autumn. Dominant Fe types (particularly ESFJ’s) enjoy beauty, hence the ESFJ type most strongly correlates with spring.

  3. Ahamed says:

    ENFP – I Like Spring

  4. Estelle says:

Autumn is beautiful, too, with all the brightly colored leaves, pumpkins, apples, and fall flowers, and Spring can be plenty ugly, especially in the beginning when the snow has melted and there’s only old dead yellow grass and mud because neither the flowers nor the new grass is up yet.

Well now we are just getting technical 😛
Although you are definitely right. Which season is your favourite? And what’s your type Estelle?

  5. Lilly says:

Aren’t NFs kind of prone to SAD, and therefore would dislike winter? I say this because I’m an INFP… with SAD… and I hate winter. *shrug*

    • tatl33 says:

Interesting. I haven’t considered that but I definitely believe that NF’s would be more prone to SAD. Looks like that may be a future article coming up! 🙂 How do you find your SAD affects you?

  6. ISTJ, and I prefer winter. Autumn is too windy, and winter is FAR colder than autumn.

  7. Purgis says:

INFP, and my favourite is spring. I don’t like cold. I’m born in the winter though. My second favourite is summer. I just love nature and nice weather, and being outdoors, especially going on walks or hanging with people. I’m actually ambiverted though (depending on definition) and I get lots of pleasure out of being with friends as well as being alone, working on projects.
The real reason I like spring best is A) I like the weather and atmosphere in the air, and B) I like the hopeful symbolism of things starting over again even though it’s hard to wrap your head around the fact that cold can turn to warmth so quickly.

I’m an INTJ, I love winter.

I like autumn the best. The leaves blaze with amber and crimson passion, dying all around me as they flurry to the ground. Children play in falling leaves, people go for walks in the park. Sunlight still graces the sky with a golden light. A burst of cold, bitter wind whips the the air, both chilling and invigorating. The whole season seems a particularly strong metaphor for the fragility of life, which is something so precious and beautiful. There is such an nostalgic feel about Autumn, even it’s name brings a twinge of sadness. It reminds me of when I was a child, every autumn, saying goodbye to summer (that glorious free and empty season where one is free to read as many books as she wishes or simply do nothing at all without any interruption) and welcoming with both regret and anticipation the season of school (when one may learn so many new and wonderful things or else have a complete mental breakdown under all the pressure of getting good grades). The whole season is just so passionate and romantic.

But then, I do understand the appeal of winter. It’s so pretty when it snows and wonderfully morose in a poetic way… and it’s underrated. I feel sorry that more people don’t like winter… But I mean… it’s just so cold and busy (school, Christmas, etc.).

If you haven’t guessed by now… I’m an INFP.

    • tatl33 says:

haha I guessed! and very interesting 🙂
what’s it like being an INFP?

    • Why are you so similar to me? I write in such a similar way and am also an INFP 🙂 My heart flutters with delight as I dream of lingering in the bittersweet golden light of autumn and to feel the rekindling of precious memories. I simply love the cold warmth of autumn. While the air is frigid and chilling, it carries a depth of freedom that makes you sigh with joy. And of course, the beauty of the leaves is a reminder of how romantic yet melancholy the waning of our lives can be. I love the sadness and the emptiness intermingled with the hope and nostalgia.
BTW: I love Jane Eyre and Anne of Green Gables!

So true! I am an ISTJ and love Autumn most out of all the seasons. It is just perfect; not to hot and not to cold.

I’m an ESTP and the only season I even remotely enjoy is summer. This is pretty deadass on my part.
